T Rank 2 months agoAngelo’s Pizzeria in South Philly is hands down one of the best spots in the city for both pizza and cheesesteaks, and it absolutely lived up to the hype when I brought a couple buddies there on a Saturday at peak time. This place has built a serious reputation over the years- especially for their bread, which they make fresh in-house daily- and that alone puts them in a different league. We pulled up to a long line, but don’t let that scare you- it moves pretty quickly and is 100% worth the wait. We ordered the Diavlo pizza (Italian long hots, hot sausage, homemade arrabbiata, red pepper flakes, fresh garlic) along with a cheesesteak, and both were unreal. The pizza had a perfect balance of heat and flavor, and the crust was exactly what you want- crispy, airy, and fresh. The cheesesteak lived up to its reputation too, with that signature bread really making the difference. After ordering at the counter, we got the text to pick up the food in about 10–15 minutes, which is impressive given how busy it was. The staff kept things moving and were all really friendly despite the rush. One thing to keep in mind: there’s no seating inside or outside, so plan ahead. A lot of people grab their food and find a spot nearby or head to a park to eat, which honestly adds to the experience. Overall, this is a must-visit Philly staple at this point. If you’re in the city, you’ve got to try both the pizza and the cheesesteak. I’ll definitely be back and would recommend it to anyone!
Amber C 4 months agoOhhhh my. We walked up at lunch, just so happened to beat the lunch rush as a line formed quickly behind us. The lady at the counter greeted us promptly and made a suggestion for a great cheese steak and oh my goodness. Best cheese steak I've ever eaten! Ever! I'm a nervous orderer so I really appreciated the lady at the front counter. She texted when the food was ready and pickup was a breeze. I think the food was about $15 / person but oh my at the portion. We probably should've shared but I'm grateful for left overs. See you again soon!!
Kenny Duthie a month agoIt was a beautiful day in Philadelphia. We waited in line. Got to the register pretty quickly. We typed in our name and phone number. And just about 20 minutes time we were texted and we were able to come back and pick up our three cheesesteaks. One of us got the pizza cheese steak, the other two of us got a cheesesteak with just onions and I got one with onions, peppers, and mushrooms. The meat was incredibly tasty.
Christian “C-Rex” Berry 6 months agoSince I'm in Philly, I had to try a few cheesesteak spots. This was on my list. Got here and the line was pretty long. It moves pretty fast. They have a great system for the space. You walk up and place the order. They text you when everything is ready and then you pay. Allows everyone to order quickly and get out the way. I ordered their regular cheesesteak. I wanted to order a slice too but it seems they only sell by the pie. I forgot to ask... Anyway, I think within about 10mins I got the text my cheesesteak is ready. I got to the hotel room and opened it. I just sat there with a smile for a moment admiring it. The cheese is mixed in with all the meat and onions. Just the way i like it. Ensures that every bite is as good as the last. One negative was... I just wasn't 100% feeling the bread they use. This was honestly Delicious. Easily, one of the best cheesesteaks I've had. Their staff was great too... Quick to help...
Ari Lieberman a month ago1st time here as just visiting Philly. The line was at least 50 people deep! I read a number of reviews which were negative but ot still has a 4.6 rating. My experience was good. They said you will need to wait about 15 minutes and it was about that long. The cheesesteak was heavy with meat and a good mix of cheese. The bread was crispy and had sesame seeds which added flavor. Honestly one is enough for 2 people unless you are super hungry. The place itself is quite simple as it is take out only but they packed everything very well. Many places today are sloppy about that. Two thumbs up. Worth the wait.
