Look, if this were any other city I'd give it a heavy 5, but Oakland folks hold their food, and pizzas, to lofty standards. And while likes the pizzas and will be back again I didn't fully surrender and love it like the way I know I can. The place is in a snazzy locale and it feels like I'm walking through Seattle or Portland with shiny new buildings and boutique eateries. The ambiance is inviting. You order and pick a seat and the food gets delivered to you. The Moz sticks were a delight with their perfect crunch and salty cheese. The pesto pizza arrived soon after. I don't know of many places that have pesto on their pizza and I decided to try it. The crust was hollow and at the end and tender where the cheese and mushrooms were. Like I mentioned there wasn't an instant eye opening OMG sensation. It took a few bites before I longed to eat another one. There was some thought process that happened as the pesto and cheese bedan their relationship on my tongue and that's why I had to ding a star. At a five star place there would be no thought. Just sensory delight. But I'll be back for the other pizzas.

New Oakland food spot? You bet I went on opening day! It was fairly easy to find parking on a Thursday at 11:30AM and there was a few people already waiting before it opened! When we got inside, the interior and atmosphere is super nice: high ceiling, color aesthetics are dope, and I love that it gives a modern look. It is open seating and you order at the front. Staff was lovely and everyone was super accommodating and nice. I already had some high expectations since there are some dope spots in East Bay, and I was excited to give the food a try (never been to the SF location either). 1. Margherita Pizza - 3/5 - I mean it's solid, but there was so much olive oil that when you pick up a slice, you can see the oil just hella dripping. Not sure if that played a role on the pizza also being super floppy. I do wish they had a bit more cheese and basil on it though! 2. Meatza Pizza - 4/5 - This was good and had chunks of meat on the pizza, which I'm sure all the protein lovers enjoy! 3. Mozzarella Sticks - 5/5 - These were SO solid and the cheese pull was so beautiful. Dipping it into hot marinara was the perfect bite. Overall, it's a dope spot, and the vibes are good. Personally, not my favorite pizza in East Bay, but that's just my preference.

As somebody who consistently hunts to find the best slice in every city I go to I can confidently say that flour + water has some amazing pizza. This location in Oakland is pretty new and their staff are super helpful and kind. The atmosphere was also really nice to where you could sit inside where you could see them making the pizzas or sit outside. The pizza itself is a mixture of New York style crust and Neapolitan style, meaning everything is a 13 inch pizza. The crust was phenomenal, true to form for New York style. We wished there was just a little bit more flavor in the sauce, especially for the margarita pizza. But one thing that they do very well are the nontraditional pizzas, such as the Hawaiian pizza that we got. This was phenomenal! Service was quick. Food was delicious. We definitely will be coming back.

The BEST gluten free pizza I’ve ever had. They do it “Sicilian” style and it’s almost like focaccia bread and it’s so fluffy and the edges were crispy. Wow. 10/10. And the service was great. My pizza was taking longer than the other one we ordered, and they came out and just said that the sun-dried tomatoes were a little bit too burnt, and that my pizza was being remade and they offered a complementary soft serve because of the wait. They definitely didn’t need to do that and it just showed how quality their customer service is. Will definitely come back next time I’m around!

Flour + Water has officially opened! It has been much anticipated by the neighborhood! The team is unmatched. The staff hustles. They opened to high traffic and are working hard to deliver amazing service. We got take out. Margherita and Pepperoni Pizza. We also got the wings and meatballs. You’re not going to go wrong with any of the pizza options. Everything is very fresh and cooked to perfection. Meatballs were AMAZING! I would expect a minimal wait if you want to dine in. This is the new HOT SPOT. Carry out only took about 20 minutes. Everything served hot and ready to eat. Truly can’t say enough great things about this team. Make sure to stop by and support Flour + Water. You won’t be disappointed. We will absolutely be returning.
