Briana Hardy 2 weeks agoI love that Barro’s has a gluten free thick crust option, it’s my absolute favorite GF pizza crust. But this location consistently gets my toppings and sauces wrong. I think the main issue has been with their online ordering being confusing for how to order with their white sauce instead of red but sometimes it hasn’t come with sauce at all and just been the cheese and crust. The most recent time I tried to specify I wanted white sauce and I picked out a couple toppings from the build your own selection but they gave me entirely different toppings assuming I had meant to order the white pizza from their menu but that it not what was on the receipt at all. This has happened multiple times so now I drive farther to the Gilbert and Baseline location because they always get it right.
Spencer Lee 8 months agoI placed an online order from the Barro’s Pizza at Gilbert & Brown at 6:12 p.m. and the email confirmation said it would be ready in about 35 minutes. Upon arrival, I waited under the “Online & Pickup Orders” sign for roughly 15 minutes while the employee at the counter, who was clearly busy, continued assisting others. She wasn’t rude—she was simply overwhelmed. Another customer eventually interrupted her, and only then was I able to check in. From where I waited, I could see the staging area for online orders. My pizzas sat there for about 15 minutes before my salad was added to the top of the box. By the time everything was finally ready, it had been over an hour since I’d ordered. To be clear, I don’t fault the employees. They were working extremely hard in what appeared to be an impossible situation. The issue is systemic: the online ordering system clearly doesn’t account for real-time conditions—the number of orders, the available staff, or the weekend rush. The result is frustration for customers and burnout for employees. This is not a staffing failure; it’s an ownership and management failure. The employees are doing their best while the system sets them up to disappoint. I left politely, said thank you, and didn’t complain in person. But as someone who leaves many positive reviews, it takes a lot for me to write a negative one. This location needs better oversight and investment in systems that respect both the staff’s effort and the customers’ time. UPDATE: I emailed them as invited here on Google reviews and this was their response, “Hi Spencer, We sincerely apologize for your disappointing experience. We take customer feedback very seriously, and we’re making sure that our management team is aware of this situation so that it can be addressed appropriately moving forward. Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback with us so that we can continue improving the Barro's experience.” So… platitudes.
super secret a month agoThe pizza its self is 10/10. We walked into the restaurant and our cashier had a horrible demeanor and was blatantly rude. We didn’t have shoes on, but we had socks on because we came from basketball and we’ve eaten in restaurants without shoes before. Instead of politely telling us we need shoes to enter, she said it in such a demeaning way. When we returned with what shoes we could find in our car, we asked if the lunch special was still going on and she could’ve nicely said no but she said “nope it ends at 3” but with a very rude attitude. I’m disappointed to say the least. All we wanted was a slice of pizza from one of our favorite restaurants.
Alexander Roantes a year agoHi, Thank you for a great experience. I was greeted promptly when I arrived, the Pizza is very tasty, in the atmosphere is family-oriented and Chicago style. I haven't been here in years and it's nice to know that you can expect the same great food, great guest service and a clean and welcoming environment. I have one suggestion though, I wouldn't charge extra when somebody asks for extra Ranch. I could see if they were asking for more than one extra portion but to charge somebody for one extra portion of ranch is petty. Thank You.
Sophi 9 years agoThey offer a gluten free pizza, which we ordered one and it was tasty! The crust was thinner but still gave you the pizza experience not pizza on a cracker...you know what I mean? Gluten free pizza is only offered in their Medium size. We also got a thick crust buffalo wing pizza, which was good. The crust was perfectly cooked and evenly thick, the buffalo sauce was so good that we asked for a bit more to dip it in! It was the best buffalo chicken pizza I have ever had. Oh! And we did also get some cheesy garlic bread which was exactly what you would expect and want! French bread with garlic butter and a layer of warm melty mozzarella cheese on top that smothers the inside of your mouth with comfort and flavor. Even after sitting down we were asked several times by a few different employees if there is anything else they could do for us or get us. All the employees seemed happy to be there and talked with us like old friends. And getting was very clean.
